Carl and Bruno Bergmar run a potato farm at Bjälbo Trädgård in Skänninge. Here they stand in front of the oldest of their 15 Torverk doors, purchased in 1994. "Torverk folding doors can take a few knocks without giving up, and they´re built for thousands of open-and-close cycles without fuss" says Bruno.

Potatoes come from a box at the Supermarket. Many of them have been grown under meticulous conditions by Bruno Bergmar at Bjälbo Trädgård in Skänninge.
Since 1979, Bruno has perfected every step of potato production all the way to the consumer. Today, he produces 10,000 tons of potatoes every year, feeding 222,000 Swedish and Norwegian potato enthusiasts.
“When my father started growing potatoes in 1969, it was about survival. Today I’m still childishly fond of potatoes, and what drives me is solving the challenges that pop up every week, all year round,” Bruno explains.
Working with international partners
One such challenge is that there are no potato breeders left in Sweden. So Bruno collaborates with companies in Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland to secure certified seed potatoes of the highest quality.
He uses some of the seed potatoes himself, and sells the rest to growers across the country.
Cultivating ten varieties
Bjälbo Trädgård grows around ten different varieties – firm, floury, red-skinned, and organic. Harvested potatoes are stored in climate-controlled warehouses. From there, they''''re washed, sorted, and packed daily in bulk crates or bags of different sizes, ready for evening and night deliveries.
“With Torverk doors we avoid condensation, unnecessary maintenance, and costly hassle.”

Why door choice matters
Those warehouses are a critical link in Bruno''s logistics chain. Potatoes are mostly water, which means they evaporate easily. Without well-insulated warehouses, condensation would form and corrode equipment and buildings.
"That''s one reason I choose Torverk doors. They''re heavily insulated, free from unnecessary thermal bridges, and built with durable components. That way, we avoid condensation, unnecessary maintenance, and hassle," Bruno says.
Folding doors stay out of the way
Bruno prefers folding doors over overhead doors, because "a door''s most important job is not to get in the way."
"When you''re driving a loader or a forklift, the problem with overhead doors is that they often start closing before you''re out. They''re also slow to open and close, and expensive both to buy and maintain. Folding doors, on the other hand, you can always see with your own eyes. And because they open both left and right at the same time, they''re much quicker."
Torverk´s folding doors can take a few knocks without giving up, and they''''re built for many thousands of open-and-close cycles without fuss.

Built for many open/close cycles
Another common issue with overhead doors is pinch protection.
"If an overhead door takes even a small hit, it often jams and won''t close properly. Torverk''s folding doors can take a few knocks without giving up, and they''re built for many thousands of cycles without problems," says Bruno.
When things go wrong
Bruno knows what he''s talking about. He has 15 powered Torverk doors on his farm. And while they usually work just fine, not even Torverk''s doors are completely problem-free.
"When the link arms on our newest folding door started acting up, I wasn''t sure what was wrong. But we called Torverk, and they fixed it right away. Since then, it''s been running smoothly. They''re simply, solid machines," says Bruno.
